This program is intended for incoming first-year undergraduate students who have experienced barriers to access and opportunity within advanced STEM educational experiences. We recommend applying sooner rather than later. without a visa sponsorshipĪpplicants will be assessed on a rolling-basis. Must be authorized to be employed in the U.S.Enjoyment of strategic, logic, and mathematical game playing a plus.Strong STEM-content knowledge, especially within respective subject areas.An experienced teaching professional at any level, or an advanced undergraduate or graduate student with teaching or tutoring experience.There is also the opportunity to earn extra compensation for residential advisor duties, as needed. Jane Street values the quality of our instruction, and we compensate our high-caliber educators accordingly. Additionally, staff periodically provide support for extracurricular activities and excursions. All are expected to be engaged on-site while classes are in session, five full-days a week. We rely on our staff to provide a welcoming and supportive educational environment for all students throughout the program. And teaching assistants aid in this work, provide student support both one-on-one and in small groups, play strategy games (e.g., poker and chess) with students, and may also serve as residential advisors. The instructors focus on computer programming and probability and statistics, respectively, developing and presenting course materials. Jane Street is a global quantitative trading firm with offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Amsterdam. Jane Street provides all AMP students a scholarship and other perks. Residential spaces are stocked with games and staff organize weekend activities to build community, round out the residential experience, and just have some fun together. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments are provided on days classes are in session. Through AMP, we hope to share these values with the next generation of mathematicians, programmers, engineers, data scientists, and game theorists.ĪMP is a five-week program hosted in New York City, and housing is provided for all students and staff. At the core of our culture are learning, teaching, and problem solving and we believe that everyone should have access to excellent technical education. Students receive attentive support through all courses with a student to teacher ratio less than 4:1. Summer days at AMP are rigorous and rewarding-full of lectures, problem solving, and games playing, guided by excellent instructors and teaching assistants. It provides a rigorous and interactive STEM curriculum focusing on topics near and dear to Jane Street, including probability, statistics, computer programming, data analysis, and game theory. Jane Street Academy of Math and Programming (AMP) is a five-week summer program for students graduating from high school in 2023 who have experienced barriers to access and opportunity within advanced STEM educational experiences.
